It's been a while! I've been so busy in work and admiring the country that I haven't updated my blog. How careless of me. Yesterday we went to see Fuji mountain. It was gorgeous. Sadly we couldn't climb any higher but we admired it nicely from the ground level. Absolutely stunning. We also went to see different caves. They were amazing too even if we had to bend over being careful not to hit our heads. Cave's roof was so low.

SentoAfter the last post that I made, (which was two weeks ago. Oops), I've been trying different food, visited different places and tried a piece of Japanese culture. I've visited two times in a sentō (bath house), which is quite close. The place was quite cheap but very nice. You could rent a towel which is quite small so I brought my own. The place had men's and women's dressing rooms, and the bathing area separated since you bath naked without towel or bath suit. In the bathing area, you need to wash yourself properly before stepping in the pool. You sit on a stool while washing instead of standing. In my opinion it's really nice since I am too lazy to stand. If you have a long hair, you need to tie it up so it won't touch the water. After washing myself, I stepped in the big pool. The water was about 40 Celsius! The pool had one big area where you sit and relax, massaging area and the third one with strange 'electronic bath' area called Denki Buro. Denki Buro really scared me since I didn't know what it was. I thought it was normal water massage but when I sat down, I felt strange tingling feeling that stunned my limbs and whole body. I couldn't move and my limbs trembled. Sounds scary but after doing that couple seconds it went off, letting my body relax. It feels weird and can be scary but it is quite relaxing. There also was even hotter pool and cold-water pool but those were too much for me. When I first visited the place, one local woman started to talk with me. Even if she didn't speak English and my Japanese was not that good either, it was quite nice. She explained the Denki Buro for me. differencesWhile being in Japan, I have encountered situations and small things that are so different from Finland's way to do things. In food store, the cash desk is different. You put your basket on the table and cashier will then scan them and put to other basket with plastic bag. After paying, you carry your basket to other table where you pack your things. Of course this doesn't happen in every place. This one was bigger food store. In smaller stores, the cashier bag your things to the bag. Talking about bags, there's a lot of them. Cashiers will bag your stuff to bag even if you bought something you could carry without the bag. You need to separately say if you don't need a bag. I have so many plastic bags laying on my room's floor.
In trains and metros, you can't talk. It's seen as rude. Tho some people still talk and I've done that too. I wonder how many bad looks I've got. In restaurants, you are not supposed to thank too much. This is what I've heard and when eating in restaurant with co-workers, they don't really thank waitress when they bring the food. This is so hard for me to do because I like to thank people. Even about small things. There are many other differences that I know forgot. (Oops). I'll write them about later when i remember again. I know. Quite professional right? Luckily I am not a blogger.
First, I wan't to apologize my writing. I'm not the best writer of the internet and blogs are kind of new thing for me. I had tried to start one. Twice even. Hopefully this third one will work.
So I am going to Japan. And it's not just a trip but an internship! The flight is in 29.1. and I'll be staying for two months. How great is that! My dream was to go and visit Japan in one day. I was hoping for maybe staying for a week. I never expected I'd be able to stay for two whole months. It's like a dream. I was working for my mother when I got the call for being accepted, I couldn't stop smiling. Of course I felt scared and nervous but this is my chance and I must take it. I'll be writing about my visit here in my blog. |
